Kurdish Parliament: no use for national income in March poll
Wednesday, February 3rd 2010

Erbil, Feb. 3 (AKnews) oooo– The Kurdistan Parliament announced that they are against whoever uses national income in the interests of any political party in the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary polls.

"Kurdistan Parliament is against any movement for spending the national income of Kurdistan in supporting any political entity in the upcoming polls," head deputy of Integrity Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, Abdulqadir Akram, Wednesday told The Independent National News Agency of Kurdistan (AKnews).

"No government department would be allowed to be involved in polls campaigning," Akram warned.

"The Integrity Committee would meet on Thursday for taking some decisions in this regard," regarding to how the Committee would be cooperating with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), Akram said.

For his part head of the IHEC, Faraj Haidari, said that the Commission has been cooperating with the Iraqi Government and Kurdistan Regional Government in order to prevent anyone from using the national income in his/her interests. "Punishments are also set for the violators", he added.

The general parliamentary polls are scheduled to take place in the entire Iraq, including Kurdistan Region, on the upcoming march 7.

The campaigning is expected to start on the next Sunday February 7, which is expected to continue until March 5.
