A very low auction, considering that there would be expected to be pent up demand following the multi-day holiday for the election.

CBI’s dollar sales drop to 85m on Tue.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Central Bank of Iraq’s (CBI) dollar sales fell to $85.010 million in its daily auction on Tuesday, compared to $183.530 million in the previous session.

“The demand hit $5.01 million in cash, covered at an exchange rate of 1,183 Iraqi dinars per dollar, and $80 million in foreign transfers outside the country, covered at an exchange rate of 1,173 Iraqi dinars per dollar,” according to a CBI news bulletin received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

None of the 11 banks that participated in today’s session offered to sell dollars.

The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday.

Chaz, I'd almost forgotten about the auction!

The low numbers continue although it seems like they are consistent with the unusually low numbers we've been seeing for the first auction of the week. It also seems like it was posted at more or less the historically normal time...
